You are required to compose 1 medium-length research paper. The paper must be 7–10 pages (not including the title page and bibliography), in current Turabian format, with default margins and in 12-pt. Times New Roman font. One of the most debated public policy issues currently facing the nation is that of the “Individual Mandate” provision of the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). For this paper, analyze the “individual mandate.”
Your Research Paper must include, but not be limited to, discussions of:
· the worldview bases for the “individual mandate,”
· the worldview bases for the various oppositions to the “individual mandate,”
· the conflicting views of the role and limits of government, with respect to the “individual mandate,” and
· the ideas and worldviews that shaped those conflicting views.
As with many public policies that affect fundamental issues, the “individual mandate” issue impacts more than the surface question of the best way to provide health services. Your paper should demonstrate an understanding of the broader real-world implications as well as the secondary and tertiary public policy goals/consequences of the “individual mandate” and the ideas/worldviews supporting and opposing it.
