Kathleen post,
Answer the question: How do you know 2+2=4? Given your answer, are you a rationalist or an empiricist?
Rationalism is the belief that reason is the most reliable source of knowledge, while empiricism is the belief that sense-experience is the most reliable source of knowledge (CrashCourse). Is our sense of knowledge our ideas and reasoning, or based on senses? In Mediation 1, Descartes doubts our ability to know anything. Descartes then breaks down reality and knowledge reconstructing it on more scientific and mathematical grounds.
I was going around and around on this question, but think I am more of a rationalist. Rationalists take mathematics to be knowledge by intuition and deduction (Markie, 2017). It is said that “Intuition is a form of rational insight” (Markie, 2017). I also think that it is possible to be a rationalist in regard to mathematics, but an empiricist in regard to other subjects. As an accountant, this question had me very intrigued. This makes me think of arithmetic and geometric proofs, those proofs do not rely on senses.

Hannah post,
Answer the question: Write a few sentences to your fellow classmates about anything interesting you found through CareerQuest.
The most interesting thing I found on CareerQuest was the group they have for employees from all different types of departments and regions where they can talk and communicate. No matter your experience level anyone can reach out to each other and help those new employees get some guidance. I feel in a new field of work having guidance and assistance from those more experienced can help so much and improve your growth in your own career.

Choi post,
1. Please share a goal you have developed and, if possible, share how you applied the SMART strategy outlined in this video.
2. What is your major? Did you choose your major as a result of specific goals you had established? Please explain in two or three sentences.
1. One of my goals is to get my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science as less money as possible. Being in the Army as Active duty allows me to use tuition assistant as a given and this knocks off the attainable and measurable portion of SMART. Time-bound could also be tied onto this goal because I want it before I get out of the Army and tuition assistant is only available for being Active duty.
2. My major is Computer Science and I did not choose it based off of SMART strategy. It was mostly based off of my interest in computers and wanting to know more things of what I can possibly do.
