•    Identify the essential issues of the readings and themes of the films.

•    Context: What is the context of the article?  (Figure out the historical, ethical, political, cultural, environmental, and/or circumstantial settings or conditions that influence and complicate the consideration of the author’s key question)
•    Tone: What is the tone of the article? (Figure out the author’s attitude toward her/his argument)
•    Information: What is the most important information in the article? (Figure out the facts, experiences, data the author is using to support her/his conclusions)
•    Inferences: What are the main inferences/conclusions in the article? (Identify the key conclusions the author comes to and presents in the article)
•    Concepts: What are the key concept(s) we need to understand in the article? What does the author mean by using these concepts? (Figure out the most important ideas you would have to understand in order to understand the author’s line of reasoning)
•    Point of View: What are the main point(s) of view presented in the article? (What is the author looking at, and how is she/he seeing it?)
•    Assumptions: What are the main assumption(s) underlying the author’s thinking? (Figure out what the author is taking for granted [that might be questioned])
•    Implications: What are the implications if we take the author’s line of reasoning seriously? If we fail to take this line of reasoning seriously, what are the implications? (What consequences are likely to follow if people ignore the author’s reasoning?)
