General Directions For Research Paper
The Topic must be controversial, note that this an English assignment, not a scientific research. (Use layman language as much as possible)
1. Definition of terms is important, define abortion/ anencephaly, define Alzheimer’s disease
2. Types of terms e.g. types of abortion not mechanical/ types of controlled substances used medically etc! No bullet points must be in a readable format
3. What is your thesis statement and why did you choose it
4. Take a look at the historical perspective if important, Why the phenomenon exists, the laws guiding the phenomenon if applicable, and the various controversies that have arisen in times past up till date. Use expert interviews, US government Sources, Authoritative Sources, Internationally acclaimed Journals etc.. (all sources must be authoritative sources, NO MORE THAN 5years OLD)
5. You need to arrive at an opinion on the topic through careful, unbiased research into authoritative sources (all sources must be authoritative sources, NO MORE THAN 5years OLD)
6. Present BOTH SIDES of the argument. Present the CON first then Present the PRO last (argue against and then after argue for your position on the issue)
7. Discuss your position: analyze what the research sources say
