Criminal Justice Current Event Project

Current event project

· You will be responsible for keeping a collection of current events articles you will find in your local / national news.
· Your journal will consist of 15 total articles (5 on policing, 5 on the court system, 5 on corrections).
· Once you choose your current event articles, you will be responsible for writing a short (2-3 paragraphs) reflection on the issue and provide a hypothetical “CJ response” to the issue.

For example: if your article focuses on an issue within the court system, how does it make you feel, and then how can the CJ system change the response given to this situation (A DUI offender is sentenced to 3 years of prison even though the offender killed a small child- how is this justified? How can we change this response?).

Project guidelines:
· Events cannot be more than one year old.
· You must have 5 articles for each area: policing, court and corrections.
· Copy and save all links to your desired articles; this will be included in your summary.
· Your reflective paragraphs must be spell checked.
