Background Information
As technology for young children flourishes, child psychologists have wondered if, when, and how to use it appropriately to support early development. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Council on Communications and Media (2011) issues a position statement that children under age two should not be exposed to any screen media and emphasizes the value of unstructured play for the young child’s developing brain. However, AAP also recognizes that high-quality interactive media can support school readiness and language development in children above age two.

Tasks

For this assignment, you will conduct library search to identify three (3) empirical studies, describing the current findings, and derive conclusions on whether technology support children’s cognitive learning and school readiness. Also, you will identify and describe a relevant theory to provide a lens for your arguments.
